X-Files

July 29, 2008 · 2 Comments

This was not a particularly good movie, but I had fun. It did not have anything to do with the alien mythology, but was essentially a stand-alone episode about a creepy and, when you try to sum it up in simple words, quite loltastic occurence.

Without any spoilers at all, what I could have done without was the emo soul-searching “I want to believe” stuff, which resulted in Scully and Mulder and some others have pointless, strange arguments about whether belief or scepticism is the right course. It was annoying because I could not really follow. Why did one development suddenly convince everyone that the guy must be lying? Why did Mulder and Scully change their minds all the time? The way how everyone acted towards the pedophilic ex-priest was also weird. I get it, the guy is creepy, but Scully, you’ve dealt with far creepier people much more comfortably, and let me assure you, you are most definitely not his type, duh. It did not really convince me. It was odd and jarring. Ignore this stuff and you have fun crack.

Also: when you have a POOL sign, don’t film it so it reads POO. But maybe the movie has a really subte. under-played sense of humour.

Spoilers follow.

Heroes Season 3

July 26, 2008 · 1 Comment

HELLO TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN!

Could Heroes 3×01 please be leaked online? ;_; Tomorrow or so? So the vast majority of fans, those who would like to watch the episode unspoilt, won’t have to avoid fandom for two months.

I feel excluded. That’s not nice, especially right now that I am missing all the crazy, awesome The Dark Knight madness, simply because my country does not get the movie until late August. That’s one topic I cannot discuss with my friends, and once I am finally able to, in August – they will have moved on. Boo.

And Heroes? Worst case scenario: the same thing will happen. I’ll have to avoid the topic, I’ll have to stop frequenting places online… And since I’m much more actively a Heroes fan than I’m a Batman fan, that’s a lot tougher to do. And frankly, why should I have to? It’s no fun. Being a fan should be about fun, not about worrying.

Sharing my lulz

July 24, 2008 · 1 Comment

This is a vaguely Heroes-related post, because in one of those interviews, Jack Coleman uses the word “unbeknownst”, which causes Adrian Pasdar to freak out, saying he does not know the word. I have no idea if he’s joking (which would not be a surprise) or serious (which would be okay, Adrian, ;D you’re still pretty*).

Anyway, I saw someone write that word as “unbenounced”, which made me Google because hey, there could have been a similar-sounding word in the English language that I don’t know. It’s always possible.

Apparantly, “unbenounced” is a popular (?) misspelling of “unbeknownst”…? The oddest thing was when people knew the meaning, knew “unbenounced” was not a real, official, correct word, but did not know that it’s a misspelling of a real word with the same meaning. How confusing!

A gem from a forum somewhere:

need to clerify a words existance
unbenounced…. just wnat to amke sure its a real word. im using it in a speach

* OK. Moderately handsome. Spent too much time looking at Sendhil to find Adrian truly awe-inspiring. This is only natural.

Dania Ramirez talks Maya Herrera

July 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

TV Guide interview

After watching this, I’m very thrilled about Maya’s future storyline, and so should you. Yes, you. I also love how much she talks about her character, how earnestly, and how she addresses Maya’s past mistakes and flaws and the things people disliked about her in S2, but brings in the magic word: “character development”. I went Yes! Yes! Yes! in my head when she said her past vulnerable/gullible/emotional role was more or less the necessary first step for the next, most likely ass-kicking step. (I paraphrased that.) It’s what I’ve been saying/hoping for for months, and it is nice to hear it from someone who has actually read the scripts for the upcoming episodes. Haha!

“She’s definitly going to change the course of action for some of the characters.”

Any speculations?

I really, really want her to take down Sylar. Just imagine the look on his face!! Reap what you sow, etc.

ICON-RELATED QUESTION!!!!

July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Guys! Guys!! I need your help!

So, ages ago, I made this icon:

null

Alicia and I decided that Mohinder and Maya hooking up would be kind of fun. We decided that on October 30 2007. I looked in the chatlogs. The main appeal to us was that they would be making fun of Sylar and generally bond over Sylar-related things.

But it occurs to me that the icon can be misunderstood, and that would bother me. So, advice!

I do not want the icon to be read as “Sylar disapproves of Maya/Mohinder, and so do I and so should you!”

I want it to be read as: “Maya and Mohinder are bonding and Sylar feels left out. This serves him right, haha. Let’s all point and laugh at him!”

My problem may be that I do not take Sylar as seriously as some people do. I don’t worship the ground he walks on. I don’t root for him. Now, I don’t want to dumb the icon down, and it is supposed to be textless, that’s the point. And I think it works, it just doesn’t work for… dumb and biased people. People who kid themselves into thinking they can relate to Sylar more than they can relate to Mo or Maya.
