On Livejournal, I’m weaselistic. But Livejournal is losing its appeal more and more. The only advantage I still see about that service is the communities, however, I am also beginning to understand that communities aren’t my cup of tea.
I have obscure views.
For example, I don’t just like Mohinder because he’s pretty and gets written as Sylar’s little fucktoy in fanfiction. I actually like him for his personality. Shocking.
I don’t like fanfiction. Actually, I hate it more and more with every passing minute. Especially slash. Especially character bashing, out-of-character, badly-written slash.
I like female characters. This is a very unpopular view. Common claim is that they are all badly written, which makes it okay to bash them. But I don’t think that falling in love with one guy over the course of nine episodes makes Maya a slut, and I don’t think a woman has to be… “good and pure” (I AM ONLY QUOTING!!!) to be considered a well-written character. As a matter of fact, goddammit, I think that if Janice cheating on her husband makes her a whore, then Nathan cheating on his wife makes him a whore, too, and he should be hated by fandom as much as Janice is.
Something else I don’t really enjoy is the fandom’s hobby of HATING THE SERIES. But from my stay in Final Fantasy fandom, I know it’s actually a fairly common occurence. Fandom is full of people who hate the thing that the fandom is about. As someone who genuinely likes the show and loves some of its characters, I feel terribly out of place there.
I don’t call the writers racist and misogynistic. Where I’m from, racism is a serious accusation, and I cannot stand seeing it flung around like it’s nothing at all.
As a matter of fact, I think that if there’s a group that’s racist and misogynistic, it’s FANDOM.
Also, I think the Company is not such a bad idea, at its core.
And the only Petrelli I like are Angela and Heidi.
This blog will probably be mostly about Heroes, obviously, but I don’t know what will happen in the future. I might start posting about koala bears in a week or so. I’m fickle.
